An incredible start to the year with our Brisbane Thematic Analysis Masterclass at the University of Queensland. Across two full days of discussion, practice, and reflection, we tackled the nuances of reflexive thematic analysis—from coding complexities to making intentional analytic choices.

One of the highlights? Seeing participants embrace the messiness of qualitative research—grappling with ambiguity, refining their interpretations, and strengthening their confidence in theme development. These moments of insight and clarity are what make this work so rewarding!

Some Key Takeaways:
The power of reflexivity – Recognising and embracing the researcher’s role in meaning-making.
Beyond surface-level coding – Moving past semantic meanings in the data to engage in deeper, interpretative thinking.
Analytic confidence – Applying a systematic, yet flexible, approach to qualitative data analysis.

Participant Highlights:
“This workshop completely reshaped how I think about thematic analysis—I finally feel equipped to do it properly!”
“Understanding the ‘why’ behind each step really helped me refine my coding and analysis.”
“So valuable to work through real examples—I feel much more confident in my approach now.”

Looking forward to working with more amazing qualitative researchers this year—
